This month in history
It’s a big month for classic TV… on the 8th the British situation comedy “Are You Being Served?”, about employees of a department store, was first broadcast, running until 1985. Oh the innuendo!
Then across the pond the next day “Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids” was launched on US TV.
And a few days later, “The Waltons”, based on producer Earl Hamner’s reminiscences of his rural childhood, began a ten-season run on CBS. The setting was the fictional “Jefferson County, Virginia” in the 1930s.
What’d Sadie think?
“Alone Again Naturally” by Gilbert O’sullivan gets two weeks at the top before Three Dog Night take it with Black And White” for a week. Then we round out the month with two weeks of “Baby Don’t Get Hooked On Me” by Mac Davis at number one.
